The X1600 XT is about the same as the 7600 GS, slightly better than the 6600 GT.

The X1600 Pro is notably slower than the 6600 GT.
u sure the x1600 pro is slower than 6600GT??(except for nvidia favouring games like doom3 and quake4) I thought that they were very closely matched and the x1600 pro beats the 6600GT in newer games.(like oblivion,FEAR)

The X1600 PRO is very crippled compared to the X1600 XT.

It is slower than the 6600 GT is almost every bench I've ever seen, in fact, I can't think of one game where it would win.

I admit my perception of the X1600 PRO was off. It certainly seems alot better in these particular benches than I remember.

AOE3: 6600 GT wins
B&W2: 6600 GT wins
QUAKE: 6600 GT wins

COD2: X1600 PRO wins without AA, 6600 GT wins with AA

FEAR: X1600 PRO wins
Serious Sam: X1600 wins

When the X1600 was released it was a real dog. Maybe Ati has done some good driver work, there... still, I'll dig up some other benches to cross reference.

Just another fine example of you shooting your mouth off when you dont know what your talking about. It's funny that the benchmarks that he showed you were from this very site

Lol... Another fine example of Randalflagg Nvidioting his way to stupiddom.

Didn't you just accuse me of being an Ati fanboy in another thread?

Now you're criticising my opinion that the 6600 GT was better.

Idiot. Which is it, smart guy? Fanboy trash - so predictable.

Not to ge tinvolved in the side debate, , but of course in Oblivion it would win if you consider playability (min fps) @ settings, plus the available options.

All in all alot depends on settings and measure.

IMO the X1600 series is still a big dissapointment, but considering the X1600P AGP is still usually much cheaperthan the GF6600GT AGP and the X1600XT is cheaper than the GF6600GT, it beats that market entrant, however.... there is the GF7600 series which makes it an easy win in PCIe, but it's still not in AGP yet as th title implies.

My neighbor(an older guy) got his 7600GS PCI-E from Newegg today, and it performs pretty well. I could only overclock it 445/445(default400/400), but it plays NFS:MW and Fart Cry nicely(his two fav. games)...plus, it was only around $100 U.S.D(it's an eVGA model).

He upgraded from the Abit 9550(actually a 9600XT) that I got him for his birthday.

I think I used the ()'s too much in this post :?

Yeah the GF7600 series in PCIe is killer. I think the X1600's in a sad position and that will be challanged once the GF7600 moves to AGP. If ATi isn't already moving to get the X1700 to market, then they will likely lose the summer mid-market to the GF7600 in both agp and PCIe. At least in PCIe they have the X1800GTO for some situations.

Good choice for the original and the upgrade.

Not like anyone else does that (well only occasionally [as in whenever the need arises {not that this is one of those situations}]).

Yeah, I know. Check out the thread, I've already recanted that remark... the X1600 PRO is better than I thought based on the benches I've seen linked to in this thread.

Guess I haven't kept myself in the loop with the X1600 PROs performance, like I said on release I saw some really dismal X1600 benches, I guess Ati has improved X1600 performance some on the driver side, or I just simply got the wrong impression. Looking at it now it seems like a decent performer for the cash for sure.

I can't be perfect all the time. But I can learn from my mistakes anyway... :)

YEah no problemo, just my chance to say OBLIVION again.

And while the X1600 is great for Oblivion, I'd still say that the GF7600 will be an easy winner for the AGP market once the GS and GT arrive, so ATi should be readying those X1700s if they have them. That's an attractive looking/sounding part, but it's not looking like there's much movement on that front. The X1800GTO is ok in PCIe, but still more expensive than the GF7600GT, and also and maybe more importantly, it's more expensive to make than the GF7600.

And selfishly, there's no attraction to an X1800GTO in laptops so I'd wish they hurry with that X1700 so I can enjoy Oblivion a little better on the road with HDR (Boom on MRX700 is 'ok').

OMFG! ROFLMAO! You still have that!

Funny thing is I though YOU were making fun of my habit (check my posts) of using bracket everywhere so believe me I was thinking, ok ya' got me!

Oh man, that pic just made me laugh really hard (I'm serious TEARS!)
