Hi,
I am looking for a player to play an Avi file. I downloaded PocketDivx, but
it gives me error - can play audio. Any other player I can try? Does MS
Windows Media player support Avi on PPC?

Windows Media Player only supports the WMV video format. However, you can
download the free Windows Media Encorder to transform AVI files into WMV
files. And, you should reduce the file size considerably in the process.

Hi, I installed the Windows Media Encoder 9 (could not find 10). It
converts it to 208x160 size. No other options are available. Which very
small.
Any ideas?

Try again, there is almost an infinite number of options and settings. the
encoder comes with a dozen or so "pre-set" configurations depending on what
you are trying to do, and by simply going into the properties tab you can
customize and change it to your liking, you can set resolution, bitrate,
framerate, video and audio codec, take a few seconds longer as you go
through the wizard and explore a little, a whole new world will open up.

Windows Media Player will play AVI files, but you need to install the following free internet downloadable programs: Direct X (if you don't already have it installed), DivX Codec, and Quicktime. No reboot required.
