I am saving up for a few things this coming Holiday Season. Things such as Battlefield 2 Deluxe Edition, Sims 2: Open for Business(if I don't get it already, lol) and a new video card. I am checked Newegg and Tiger for some good choice but I was wondering you guys and gals think. I am currently using an ATI card, had no problems and was looking to other ATI cards. Yet, I have heard alot of good things about Nvidia so I could be swayed to the other side of the fence. Also, I am looking for something in the 100-200 dollar range. Nothing too fancy, just something that I can up my graphical setting with. If you folks can help, that would be great.

Well if you are looking at Nvidia, then I would suggest the Geforce 7600GT because it ranges from 140-195USD$ on newegg. I personally have one and it plays bf2 on high settings with 2x aa @ 1280x1024. Of course you need a PCIe slot in your motherboard for this card. Do you have a PCIe slot? I would also reccomend the ATi x1800GTO becuase of it overclockability and 256bit memory bus, but that is about 230$...its worth the extra money. If not wait for the DX10 cards late this year early 07.

yes, I have a PCIe x16 slot. I am currently running an ATI X300 (SE or HM, I am not sure of). I play The Sims 2 on medium settings with no problem. I want to upgrade to be ready for the new expansions.

Then I would go with one of the two cards above becuase they give great performance and are cost effective.

I would suggest this 7600GT off of newegg:
eVga 7600 GT 149.99 after rebate

And this x1800GTO if you want to stay with ATi
Sapphire x1800GTO 185.00$

These are two great cards for your price range and the 7600GT is a great card, as i have stated i have it and it runes perfect.

Both of these are priced before shipping on Newegg.

i think i've heard the x1800gto is an overclocker's card, more headroom to overclock. But if you want the graphics card to run normal and dont overclock, a 7600gt should suit you, I recently got one and wasn't disappointed in Battlefield 2.

Ok, I will looking into the Geforce 7600 GT for the holidays. I am alittle gunshy about buying from Newegg because I haven't spend this much money online before. A friend of mine bought his RAM from Newegg with no problems but I guess I am just a little nervous. Oh yeah, I am also looking into another 1GB of ram but I guess that is a topic for another forum.

Newegg is a great place, i have spent a few thousand dollars there. I would not buy from anywhere else on the net except for zipzoomfly.com. Newegg is great and they have great customer service as well. Have no worries about newegg, they are awesome.

Also, what ram are you looking for DDR or DDR2?

You absolutely can't go wrong with Newegg. Arguably, best online computer parts reseller (survey in PCWorld). Unfortunately for me, they don't deliver to Canada (unless that has changed recently).
