Here's what I want to do: I've got an access point in the basement. I want to share with my next door neighbor. He can't pick up my signal with the AP in the basement. I know if I put one in the attic he could pick it up. The question is:

I don't want to run a physical line up there. Is it possible to get a 2nd access point which communicates via wireless with the basement access point (which has the physical connection)? Or is there another way to do this?

you will end up paying too much for such a device, see if you can get an antenna for that AP. If it's an apple you can use any orinoco antenna but you will have to drill a little in the case

I ended up having to buy a directional antenna, because omnidirectional wasn't strong enough.
