Hi

Is there a way to alter the print density manually?

Ive been very happy with my HP LaserJet 2300D.

I have printer status alerts switched on and a few weeks ago I got an alert
that the toner has less than 400 pages when booting up. Now its down to 300.
Not bad given I'm on my first cartridge which has been in use since July
2003!!

However the print density has become very light - blacks are now grey. Not
much point in having "300" pages left if they all look washed out!

Thanks for any info

Ian

My *guess* is that the printer's warning is triggered by counting pages
printed since the toner cart was installed ... without regard to how much
toner was actually used.

In any case, try the take-out-the-cart-and-rock-and-tap-it trick. You might
squeeze out some more life. Also start shopping for a new toner cartridge.

In the Olden Days,LaserJets had a knob under the top cover that manually set
density. Don't know if/when that stopped.
