Hi everyone,

After two weeks of waiting, I decided to give up my old plan to build a socket 939 rig. Instead, since the AM2 parts are out now, I got the new list of my parts for AM2, mainly for gaming. Please give me some cents on the compatibility and power issues. Thanks a mil!

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Socket AM2 1MB, BOXED w/fan

Memory: OCZ Platinum PC2-6400 EL XTC 2048MB Kit, DDR2, 240 Pin, 800Mhz (4-5-4-15) or
Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4 DDR2, 2048MB CL4, Kit w/two 1GB Dimm's, E.P.P Technology

Motherboard: M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition

Graphics Card: XFX GeForce 7900GT 256MB GDDR3 XXX, PCI-Express, 560/1650Mhz or

XFX GeForce 7900GTX 512MB GDDR3 eXtreme (675/1700Mhz), PCI-Express or

Club3D GeForce 7900GTX 512MB, GDDR3, PCI-Express, DVI/Tv-Out, Retail

Power Supply: NorthQ 4775-500S, ATX 500W Silent, 140mm Fan, 12-17dBA, 4xSATA, SLI, 20/24pin or

XION Powersupply ATX 600W Retail SLI, SATA, Dimension mm(163x150x85) 20+4 pin

Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM

DVD RW: NEC DVD±RW burner, ND-3550A, 16x, Dual, silver

Floppy Drive: Sony Floppy Drive, 3,5" 1,44MB Silver Floppy Drive Internal

Questions are:
1.Will there be anything that is not compatible?

2.Which graphics card should I buy in order to pay less money and play all the games with max in all settings at only 1280*1024/75Hz (my TFT) without frame issues? Is the Club 3D 7900GTX stock speed good enough? it is only 496 Euro

3. Someone told me for this rig, I need at least 550W PSU, is it true?

4. Which memory should I choose?

I would go with the OCZ Platinum ram, and go with XFX, I guess whichever one you would want, since one is faster than the other...

.. Just my opinion

But the corsair one has E.P.P Technology which can automatically overclock your memory to optimize the performance with the cpu.

What about the power? is 500W enough?

The graphics card, should I go with the cheaper stock 7900GTX or oc one? for the 1280*1024/ 75Hz, is the overclocked 7900GTX overkill?

Yes paying money for the factory OC is rip off and you can just set the Club 3D one to the same settings with a manual overclock .

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Socket AM2 1MB, BOXED w/fan - this processor doesn't exist the 4600+ has a 512KB cache not 1MB. The X2 4800+ is the 1MB version which one did you mean, anyway either should be good!

As for the power supply never heard of either brand there. I would go for a good brand name like antec true power 2 or a seasonic S12 both are excellent.
I would say any power supply above 500W is enough and will allow you to add extra componets; high end graphics card usually eat up a lot of power but the 7900 series have smaller chips and less circuits so eat less power.

I would go for the OCZ if you can ge a hold of it very good RAM.

I don't know anything about that motherboard seen a few pictures of it and it looks nice.

Hope this helps the rest of your system looks nice!
I was looking at something similar myself but gonna wait for conroe and see whats what.
