CHIP FIRM AMD has kicked into price cuts today by slashing prices on 939 and AM2 sockets.
Distributor prices seen by the INQ show that the Athlon 64 3000 will cost $89, the 3200 $99, the 3500 $109, and the 3800 $139. In the last case, that's a 50 per cent drop.

All socket and AM2 sockets are rebated, we understand from sources close to AMD Asia.

Well, rev. F chips runs cooler thanks to some enhancements AMD made to the process. That's why I believe they achieved this OC with the stock HSF.

And ?
What is the big deal about it?
My Venice 3200+ hits over 2.8GHz(http://forumz.tomshardware.com/har [...] 86085.html), so what?

My Venice is going to be a file server when Conroe hits the market. It has served well and now it is ready to be retired.

is it that hard to get an athlon over 1 Ghz?

More Information

Yes it is. I can get my xp3200 to 2.4ghz stable on stock voltage and 2.5 ghz stable if i up the voltage. The best ocer's are intel chips for some unknown reason.(Maybe intel has an ocing addict as one of it's engineer's)

Or maybe Netburst works better at high clockspeeds and Intel doesn't clock their chips to their maximum?

The D805 sucks; 533MHz BUS? No thanks, I'd spend the extra $50 for the 820 thanks. Also, where are you seeing the D805 that cheap? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819116001

I haven't seen the Pentium D 805 for the same price as the 3000+ anywhere.
