It's all very well but it's single core price-cuts. Does anyone actually want a single-core now that much? I know for one, I'm going dual-core only, be it AM2 Athlon 64 X2, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo, after my system getting stifled by a single-core processor I wouldn't want to go back to one.
I think newegg is being kinda greedy ATM because every where ease has droped price's but them. Unless they know something is going happen that we dont but i think its just greed
i have not used a dual-core i am not going to spend $300-650 on a dual-core when a single core is just fine for alot of people these days. when they drop the dual core price's to like $200-400 then i will but i am not going to spend $300 on a dual-core when a Single core 3800+ will only cost me $168
Ok, just so long as you know Intel's dual-cores can be had for that price, we were just discussing it in another thread. Apparently you can get a 930D for just $190 (not that I'd know because I'm in the UK), or an 805D for about $120. So unless you really have an Intel dislike, dual-core really can come that cheap. I remember when I had a dual-socket Pentium III machine and it was amazingly responsive, I miss those days. Ok, not many apps are optimized for dual-core but it's more about the multi-tasking and responsiveness of the system.
