Is it worth the extra $60 to buy the 3500+ over a 3200+ or better to just OC the 3200+ ?

Will the 3200+ OC to 3500+ equiv without Vcore adjustment and the same for 3500+ to 3800+ ?

Finaly will the OC 3200+ run cooler than a P4 630 not OCed :?:

Thanks, :)

I wouldn't pay an extra $60 for the 3500 but over at Newegg, right now the price difference is only $13, so I'd probably go for the 3500 for that...

Yes, it will run cooler than the 630, even overclocked.

I'd get the AMD A64 3200+ and OC her! and save the $60 for a better aftermarket cooler. Also the 3500 is pretty much same as 3200+ just the 3500+ is clocked higher Ghz @ stock speeds. As for an after market cooler try finding an AMD x2 4800+ or opteron DC heatsink!

Get the 3200 , then OC it to 2.5 or 2.6GHz ... & with extra money get a good CPU cooler ...

we3ll the 3500+ has a higher mulitiplier than the 3200+ and at stock the 3500+ is faster so i guess you might get a higer overclcok from it without raising the fsb/htt as much. however i guess that itd be best to buy the cheaper 3200+ and a performance hs/f

Not today maybe tomorrow

I'd say 3200 cos 3200, 3500 and 3800 all roughly overclock to the same value. However, AMD are doing big price cuts on 24th of july, just after conroe is released, so if you can, wait 'til then! I did have a link of the pricelist somewhere but i can't seem to find it... x2 3800+ will be cut be nearly half though! :D

How can AMD support such a price cut and will it last or probably be short term?

Do you think Intel will match it?

So if a AMD 3200+ 939 Venice is around $200 Aus, that means it could drop to $100 :D

If the difference is just a couple of dollars, i'd go for the 3500+ for the extra multiplier, but if it's quite a bit more it's not really worth it

The only difference is 200MHz, which doesn't equal any performance increase.

Hence buy the 3200 processor and o/c if you are interested.

It doesn´t make much difference if you keep it at stock clock. If you overclock the cpu, then it can make a huge difference...

3200+ 10x
3500+ 11x
(If I am correct?)

If you take the cpu up to about 2,9GHz then you would need a FSB/HTT of 264MHz with the 3500+. But with the 3200+ you would need 290MHz.
With 264MHz you can put your ram at for example 438MHz (1,66x) or 528MHz (2,0x). With 290Mhz you can put your ram at for example 385MHz (1,33x), 481MHz (1,66x) or 580MHz (2,0x). And thats not so good if you have bad ram... With 11x you can simply get more out of the box.
