Q1: Will most current MB that run on DDR400, recognise(BIOS) DDR533 if installed and is the socket and operating voltage the same?

Reason is that DDR533 is only slightly more expensive than DDR400.

Q2: Would it be better to use better quality DDR400 instead of DDR533?

Thanks, :D

Make sure you are looking at ddr 533 and not ddr2 533 as this is incompatible. if it is ddr than it will work, but ddr based systems only normally run at ddr 400 as a max. that does not mean that it wont work, it will just run at ddr 400 speed, unless you overlock your motherboard mem speed. I have not seen ddr run at speeds of 533. I have seen 500, 550, and 600 though. the 533 speed makes me think you are looking at ddr2

be more explicit my friend ..it think you are looking at same pc4200(533) ddr2 module.....

also there are ddr2 modules at 400 mhz.......

they simply don`t match...ddr standard module has 184pins...ddr2 standard module has 240 pins..

what kind of module do you have in mind...or what kind of mobo do you have?

i think is better for our firiend ..bache_au..to be more explicit ...i mean what kind of module is he thinking about
Exactly what I said, DDR533 not DDR2 533 and it is here in Aus - eg. Link posted by wusy.

I was thinking of using the faster ram so that when I OC there is less chance of crashing - hopefully :)

be very carefully ...am64 is stricted limited at memory settings....

is better to use faster modules just because when you use them at 400mhz....the cl is minimum....

you don`t have to oc it ..by contrary you use it at lower frequency (400)....in this way you`ll have better timings..and better performance...that`s all...
