I am building my new computer and will be ordering it on the weekend. The problem is with choosing my mobo. The choices are:

ASUS 570

MSI 550

MSI 570

I want to be able to choose the MSI 550, but I heard a few people say it messed up the RAM. I don't care that it can only hold 4 gb of ram, or only 1 PCIE slot. I wont go SLI. I just want a relaible one. If MSI has a really bad rep with mobos, then if I need to I will go with the ASUS 570, but will have to downgrade my AMD X2 from 4600 to 4400.

Which should I get? Should the MSI 550 be fine? The computer people test it before I get it.

--------------------------------

Or. Since I doubt I will ever upgrade my CPU or MOBO, should I just get a s939, and upgrade to a 4800+ instead of 4600+? The price would be like $40 cheaper.

Where are you getting your computer from? I'm assuming that you aren't building it yourself. I myself was going to buy an AM2 system with a cheap single core Athlon 64, and then upgrade to a dual core when the prices dropped later this summer. The main reason I decided not to is because there isn't a whole lot of information on the motherboards available right now and their compatability with RAM. I cannot tell you which motherboard to get for this reason, but maybe someone else can. If you are certain that you won't upgrade the CPU or motherboard for a few years then I think that a 939 based system would be a viable option with its stability.

I'd get the MSI 570. That's what I'm planning on doing anyway. I think you'll be ok with DDR 800 PC6400 RAM. People seem to be getting by fine so far with it..

the msi boards tend to have a bit higher 3d performance(screaming and running away from death defying asus fanboys). But just to be fair, hardwarezone got an asus 590 baord up to 475 htt which is pretty much like the popular dfi boards. then again, its the 590, not the 570 u want so I would go with the cheaper msi(570 ultra, not sli)

Ive always run MSI boards in my personal systems. Never had any issues with one yet. Therefore I keep buying them. Although I've not had any problems with my AM2 board, others obviously are having serious problems. Until It gets figured out I would hold off on purchasing any AM2 boards.
