Hello. I have just gotten NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner from Newegg and it reads CD's fine havent tried to burns any cds but it wont play DVD's. It promted me to install InterActualPlayer and when I try to play a DVD it says the problem is with subsystem.

Did you install the driver? It usually in the cd included in the package but if you purchase it as OEM then get the drivers from the manufacturers site. Well, it should work just by plugging it in your system, so it might be defective and you should return it if you can get it to work by updating the drivers. |

no dvds rnt decoded by WMP. sorry. The closest to that would be Power DVD, or WinDVD. I would assume 1 of those programs came with ur DVD Drive. |

it came with Inter Actual Player and thats all. It installs game CD's and music CD's fine. havent tried to burn DVD's yet. |

Do a Google for K-Lite Codec pack or just Media Player Classic, it plays everything (including DVDs)
