It has been very long time since a direct comparison has been done between the

***Mobile (laptop) cpu's/video cards ""$$CHA-CHING$$""

& the all powerfull

***Standard(Desktop) cpu's/video cards

Is their any chance a direct comparison mite occure anytime soon??

The reason I ask is because, well we all know you sacrifice speed when you sacrifice power supply. however with all these new Duel Core/ SLI laptops out their it makes a person wonder......... Is the Mobile generation going to mach the not so mobile in speed and capabilities soon????

Please drop your comments. I will soon be posting direct results once I get my new baby =)

My son has a alienware gaming laptop, and he's looking forward to us building our replacement desktop (currently we have a 600 Mhz P3).

Why? Heat!! The laptop would shutdown, if it plays any games heavy into graphics. His laptop is using a 3.2 Ghz processor, but it's not a true mobile processor. To get things to work, he started lowering the resolution and underclocking. He also made sure that the air vents were cleared. Now, there could be hardware problem that is making things worst. I don't know.

Your desktop aint that bad it's a northwood right? Then it should actually beat the turion in some apps. Heres a comparison a prescott get's beat by a k8 based proc running between 1.0 to 1.2 ghz lower than it but a northwood can go as low 500 to 600 mhz before getting beat by a k8 proc.

(I am asumeing your speaking of the bridge) I am very excited to get my laptop, This desktop is pretty consistantly running all games on the market at 1280x1024x32bit cranked graphics without troubles at all. So I have atleast that to bench against my laptop =)

No northwood is the core it's 130nm and it's 20 step not like prescott which is 30 step and prescott 2 which is 31 because northwood don't waste clocks like prescott. Hey can you get cpu-z and check if it's northwood or prescott or can you go into the bios real quick and tell us please i really wanna know?

My Pro-Star Laptop just like your 3.2 Laptop. But one thing is Mine 3.4 extream edtion. L3 2mb cache. 1gb of ram 2 80gb hard disk. I max res. On the 256mb grapics card.

Things I do to it.

1 I keep Windows Clean. Less junk on it the faster it is.
2 I make copys of windows Useing Norton.
3 I Have 2 windows setup. 1 for family (tends to have more game Poker tiltit and anything that deal with money) 2 for My Games/winamp.
4 Blow out the dust of Laptop.

Things I might do is Up the Ram to 2gb For I dont use it for travil anymore. Up my 2gb 2 80gb hard disks to 2 160gb

I also have a acer centreono duo 1.66ghz with 1 gb of ram 100gb hard disk and interngrated hard videocard. Only problem I have with Acer is there rebate. You can t use a P.O. Box. So I had to send it to my sister and she gave it to me. So that a warning to everyone.
