Can anyone give me good opinions about Polywell Linux Boxes?

I'm looking to spend about $1200.

Thanks, jx

For $1200 you can easily build your own Linux system. I have personally never used/had experience with Polywell stuff. I know Dell will sell you a Linux box, but its rarely a good deal.

You are probably best off building your own and installing Linux. It is not hard to do nowadays.

You can do a lot with that cash and use Fedora 5, unless your looking for a hands off approach and a limited warrenty. But most all new hardware is supported now in Linux platforms, so go crazy on the hardware and the OS will cost you $0.35 in cd's

As told by others, build your own system, but don't use Fedora if you go for an A64 or if you are a linux addicted: go for Gentoo amd64, it is at least 35% faster and more compatible with hardware than Fedora (that is Red-Hat rebirth)
