Question about the -5 volt rail

Is the -5 volt rail ever used? It comes up dead on my 24 pin power supply tester. My friend's asus sli-premium board died on him. Before I go plugging his new board into his supply, I just want to make sure his supply didn't fry that board in the first place.

I don't think it's used anymore. Not sure what components used to use either.

According to my BioStar BIOS, the -5v rail from the Antec Aria PSU is delivering 68.3v!!
