Well, this has happened twice to me. I just built my rig (specs here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/Cowafteru/specs....) and when I first ran Call of Duty to see the difference btw this rig and my previous (P4 1.4ghz, GeForce4) and i promptly got a "you video card is to hot, dialing back" warning. Well, I tried it a couple of times to make sure and it did happen consistently. So, I removed the side case and applied another fan blowing from outside onto the card (metal surfaces of the card were hot). Problem occured, just not right away. Like, while loading map this time.

So, I upgraded the drivers. Problem erased. Well, just for kicks and giggles I decided to run 3DMark2001. Well, during the texture tests same thing happened. I haven't tried again w/ the case side off, but... well... Before I run 3DMark03, should I do anything to this? Also, anything you guys recommend to monitor temps?

this could very well be a driver or thermal monitoring problem. my 6600gt used to tell me that it wasn't getting enough power on the msi modified drivers, switched over to the nvidia drivers and i haven't seen it since
