Network and Sharing Center Hangs

This is the exact same problem that appeared in windows 7. I am currently running windows 8 pro (64 bit) and when I try to click on the network and sharing center, it hangs and will not open. Also my metro apps like the store and browser do not have internet connection. However, on the desktop, I am able to browse and play Cod online and all that jazz. Does anyone have any clue on how to fix this? I would really like to avoid reinstalling the OS.

Sound like wrong firewall settings either on the PC or router
