Hi all!
I just wanted to get some feedback on my system specs, on whether I can last another 6 months or so (gaming-wise) if did a couple of upgrades (graphics card and hard disk are my primary targets). If you reckon I can, any recommendations on parts?
My current system is AGP limited, I won't be making the jump to PCI-E just yet (I've got a morgage to pay!)

My specs:-
AMD 64 3200+ @ 2.2Ghz socket 754
Gigabyte K8NS Pro motherboard
1gig Kingmax Super-ram
MSI 128bit 6600gt
120 Gig Hard drive (make not known)
DVD Rom
Beige case with 500watt PSU

Cheers all!!

You could last 6 months without doing anything at all, and another year or more with a new video card. A 7800gs will give you a good boost, but it will run you $275, give or take.

Your pc could be fine for 2 more years, depending on what you do with your pc. As far as gaming, maybe another year left on it.
Now as far as how long YOU last, well thats a question for your girlfriend.

You can find a socket 754 mobo with PCIe relatively easily...

Buy that foir under $100, and you can get all sorts of very cheap high performance videocards. Newegg has an X850 XT for $135 after rebates right now... but AGP cards are expensive like crazy.

It's worth it for the new mobo, and you'll have your old mobo to sell or do whatever.

Hey all!

I just got a lead on a near new Albatron 256 meg 6800GT, its only 6 months old, I think I might grab it!

Also, how much performance difference (roughly) is there between the 6800GT and the 7800GS? Would it be worth saving a little longer for the 7800GS?

Cheers All!!
