windows xp installation loops ... motherboard problem?

Everything was going fine:


drive C finished reformatting,

setup was copying files,

then the restart...

then it cycled back to the point where I had to choose what partition to install windows in.







my board:
ECS K7AMA3

sounds like you are letting it boot from the CD - take out the CD and boot ...

put the CD back in when it asks for it

aah.... "invalid partition table"

It isn't a motherboard problem after all. (Now I'd better figure out how to solve this...)

use the XP cd to remove the partition & then recreate it...

I think what`s happening to you is: you boot with the cd, so when the first part of the install ends, it will restart, there go into the bios and set it to boot with the HDD, then the install will go on without any problems
