Currently building a new rig , and im wanting maximum future upgradeability

So, if I get a X1800GTO now, can i just put in an extra one in the future when i need it? Or, does one of them have to be a "Crossfire Master Card" ?

Lots of conflicting info on the net (and this forum!). Some people saying 'Yes, u need a master', others saying 'no'.

Thinking of one of the following:

Going AM2, 2x3800 CPU. Any news on Crossfire AM2 mobos yet?

Your not gonna need a master card, but you might need a new mobo wit the Xpress 3200 Chipset

I dont want to confuse you, but if you want to build a crossfire rig, one of the cards MUST be a mastercard.

If I were you, Id say screw getting and two X1800GTOs and just get a single X1900Xt.

Actually, thats not true. With Xfire Setups, it matters what GPU's you use. You don't necessarily need a mster card

My Plan:

Get a:
AM2 2 Core X3800 CPU
AM2 Crossfire SATAII Raid0 Mobo (When they come out) - New chipset one.
1 x X1800GTO (when the Mobo is out)

and sometime in the future;
 I can Upgrade my GFX simply by adding another X1800GTO GFX card, next to my existing one.
 And upgrade the CPU (It's my understanding AM2 940 pin is going to be round a while 3-4 year?)
 and when i run outta storage, Put another SATAII HD in it as a RAID0 setup.

1 x X1800GTO Is perfect for me now as im Mostly playing WoW. But I want the future upgrade path.

EDIT:

X1900XT cost about £286 http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/101951
A X1800GTO is about £130.

cant afford the X1900xt :(
