I post whenever I fell the urge to do so. And by the way; this was meant to be a joke. No need to be upset there.

Even THIS ONE will play HL1. Just buy another 512MB of RAM (for a total of 768), and format the HDD/reinstall Windows with that disk that comes with it. Pretty much any laptop will play HL1, even the ones with integrated graphics.

if u are not averse to refurbished laptops u can check out dell's refurbished site,

www.outlet.dell.com

i have bought from them myself, the laptops are great, and cheaper, they come with the same warrantee as new laptops.

I couldnt find a scratch or problem with my refurbished 9100 , works like a charm.

Laptops ar egenerally more expensive i you want to play games. Youcan't get an Intel IGP. You need at least a Radeon or GeForce Go.

Somethign like this would probably play at 800x600.

Turion

Most of the Centrinos have the Intel graphics which will get you about 10 fps.

I dont live in the US either, but it only costs me $50 US to ship a laptop from the US to my door.

Are you sure there isnt a refurbished dell site for your region? would be suprised if there wasnt, unless dell channels all returned pc's to the US refurbished site.

You can order a good laptop from cyberpower or ibuypower in the US for reasonable prices and if you don't live in the US you can probably get a good barebone and some parts to make a good laptop for gaming.

well i should explain a little more, i have (or will have) a powerful desktop where i do all my high powered gaming (everything crancked up no holds bar) and then the laptop which i will use for school and a little gaming when im bored in class :) .

Pffft theres heaps of centrinos with x1600's and similar cards.

if there's millions of Centrinos I'm sure there are. I've seen them but not for $1000. ALL Turions have nVidia or ATi.

just look around, it isn't that hard. sony, toshiba, dell, even mac has some stuff now with some adjustments in OS. go and search their websites for the smaller type of laptops as i'm sure you don't want to be lugging around a heavy laptop. and read the specs on the site. if you want reviews on something specific, you might be able to get it here or here. hope that helps.

.......and SIS and VIA

i got my inspiron 9300 for $1100 with a go 6800, i will always go to dell and i'll always get more features for less money, dell's coupon system is amazing.

Nope, standard 1 yr warrantee, i always sell my laptop within a year of purchase, i'm selling my 9300 now to get a e1705/9400

Weight isnt an issue, I carry around 20-30 pounds of stuff per day on my back or arms.

if you are looking for an affordable , but powerful laptop,

you can price a inspiron e1705 for approx 1300 with all u would need, icluding the 7900GS, and its 7.5 lbs, check for coupons @ www.gottadeal.com/dell.php

Only if u hate dell from some past exeprience will i understand you not checking it out, i've only had good experiences so i'll never look elsewhere for my laptops.
