which graphics setup would be better ?

would it be better to run 1 x1800xt with 512 ram on my asus a8r32-mvp, or 2 x1600 256 ram each, in crossfire mode?

x1800xt wall the way, because the x1600 dont actually combine the memory, all they do is one video card does one frame then the other card does the other frame, so u pretty much just get better framerates, if ur not into the FPS and prefer image quality just go x1800xt, at least i would.

The X1800XT will overclock with just ATI's CCC driver that will overclock to 690/1600MHz... which is wicked fast all by itself...
such that you might not need more, but if you do, you have that choice... 8)

In general, any single high end card should outperform any mid or low tier cards in SLI (assuming they are all of the same generation, ie. nVidia's 7x00 series, or ATI's X1X00 series), and the single high end card usually costs less than 2 mid tier cards (and you also save by not having to buy an SLI/Crossfire compatible MB).
