I am running a gigabyte mobo that has dual channel ddr. I currently have 2x256 PC2700 OZC, and my question is really 2 parts. First, i noticed the 4 ram slots are grouped by 2, and have different colors, now with my 2 sticks of ram... do they have to be put into the same color slots?

And secondly, i want to upgrade my ram, i was thinking about using PC3200 along with my PC2700. Would this cause a conflict or not? Also if i decide to use a different brand of ram, will this cause problems?

Yes you have to put them in the same color slots to take advantage of dual channel memory. Now to the second part, yes you can use PC3200 with 2700; when doing this, the PC3200 will be set at PC2700 specs, but that's nothing to cry over.

1- The mached color slots are using the same channel and if you still have the manual it'll say that you have to put the 2 RAM sticks in mached color slots or the PC might not work.

2- Using PC3200 along with your PC2700 WILL make some problems, either it won't work or it will effect the performence.
