I just got a new Sapphire x800GTO 256MB, I used rivatuner to moniter the temps. I can run games for about 3 minutes then my video hits 60c degrees and my picture becomes completly distorted. Sometimes I can wait for about 2 minutes and ATI recovery will kick in and boots me out of the games back to windows and ask me to send and error report to ATI. Iwould really appreciate any advice.

Have you tried changing the fan speeds with AtiTool? That would give you a bit more cooling before it gets too hot. However, I don't think 60C should be a problem... My X800pro regularly hits 70C without any problems.

Yes, I have tried that. I even tried setting an extra fan next to it. I even tried under clocking it, flashing the bios and ran several different 3D programs and resetting the heatsink and fan while reapplying the thermal paste. (which helped it a bit) but my problem still occurs.

As the doctor said 60 degrees shouldn't really be a problem and if you've tried it with a desk fan pointed at it, it's unlikely to be an overheating issue. The next obvious thing to blame is drivers,do you have the most up to date chipset drivers for your motherboard and up to date Catalyst drivers if so and you still have the problem there's a chance you've got a duff card with a dodgy pipeline or somesuch, might be worth trying the card in another machine.

Yes, I have the latest drivers and even tried reinstalling them, I am going to try the drivers that came with the video card.

The last GTO I bought(I've owned a couple) artifacted/overheated at the stock clock settings. I sent it back immediately.

I wouldnt even mess with a new card that had it's warranty still.
