I have an iPAQ 1910 pocket PC that lost power because I forgot to place it
in its' charging stand soon enough. When I do so now, it runs through the
initial questions about setting up a partnership with my PC. Everything
that was stored in the iPAQ was no doubt lost when the power was depleted
but should still be available on my PC from when it was last synched before
power was lost...Outlook appointments and contacts etc.
My question is, if I answer the questions about setting up a partnership,
will I be able to recover this data?
During the set up procedure I click to set up a "Standard Partnership" to
allow synch back and forth. The next question asks if I want to synchronize
with my desktop computer, to which I also answer "yes". Then it asks me to
name my device. The default name already in the window is Pocket_PC. I
choose "next" to continue and am told that that device name is already in
use and that I should choose another name. I am afraid that if I choose
another name, I will synch with an empty file and data may be lost. Maybe
I'm not understanding this correctly. When the wizard asks for another name
for my device, and I type in another name, will it copy all of my saved data
from my PC to the iPAQ or will it copy nothing? I thought I would ask some
experts first before I tried something. I'm just trying to recover my saved
data on the PC back to the iPAQ.
