Ok, so my friend has this problem, and it all started when he tried to reformat... So here is what he did:
He pops in XP cd to start reformat, then it doesn't detect CD drive, he restarts and then goes into BIOS and changes boot order to CD first, then he restarts and all ide components are not detected( it says primary/slave missing), and all the motherboard detects is the floppy, then he shuts down, takes out one piece of ram to test with just 512 MB ram. He restarts and no POST, no loading, no BIOS etc. Only the power and hdd drive lights are continiously on, no other activity.
I have tested ram to see if it is properly seated, have tested drives, tested CMOS battery(is full).
I just think it is the motherboard because it doesn't post, also the hard drive makes no sound while starting up... Please help!
Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 2.4 GHZ/533 MHZ FSB
512MB Ram (DDR333)
LG DVD Burner
CD Drive
Western Digital 40 GB HDD
ASRock GE PRO-M2 MB (M-ATX)
450W PSU
Integrated graphics
Thanks in advance
