Just ordered a new vid card,( a 7600gt xfx ). Problem is i have Gateway 702ge computer, it only has a 300 watt power supply.Been told i should be ok with what i have. Im thinking of upgrading PS anyways.ITs a BTX case(comp only 2yrs old). Here are the specs ( 3.2 ghz p4, dual layer dvd burner, 6600gt vid card pci express, onboard 5.1 sound, 200 gig Hd.) Most of the 7600gt cards ive looked at said a minimum of 350 to 400 watt recommended. I just need to know what kind of BTX case supply i woud need? Anyone with some good info help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The 6600GT uses 48w.

The 7900GT uses about 48w as well

The e-Geforce 7900 GT CO SC is a highly overclocked 7900GT. That's why it consumes about 57w.

Given the fact that the 7900GT consumes the same amount of power as the 6600GT, you should be okay with the 7600GT.

Just try it first and connect the extra vga power supply cable. If it says that graphics card is underpowered and have set to the lowest settings then get a 400watt psu or 600 watt if your planning to upgrade in the future.

7600GT doesnt need extra power its powered via PCI-e bus
