start button dissappeared

8i installed windows on a pc and it all worked fine for
about half hour then when the system was rebooted, the
start button and quick launch items dissappeared. i have
tried everything to sort this but to no avail.
can anyone help please

Hey ... It sounds like you reduces the taskbar to the
bottom of your screen ... Try this position your mouse at
the bottom of the screen and if your mouse changes it
position were it show arrows in both direction then just
drag your taskbar back up again ... To drag your taskbar
hold down the left side of your mouse but make sure your
mouse show the arrows in both direction while draging
upward

Good advice. In addition, the task bar can be docked on
any edge (at least in older versions of Windows) so if
you don't get the mouse pointer change at the bottom try
the top, then each side.

Why did that happen? Evil spirits, probably. It isn't
likely to happen often.
