need help choosing a mainboard for pentium d 930

I'm currently building a computer, but I'm having trouble choosing a mainboard. The processor that I'm going to use is an Intel Pentium D 930 (I know about the new processor that's coming out, but I don't feel like waiting a few weeks in order to purchase it). I need a mainboard that is fast, reliable, and stable, with decent OCing ability. I'm thinking of getting an ASUS P5LD2-VM, but it seems like it has compatibility issues with the Pentium D 9xx series.

And a few more questions...

-If a processor supports 64bit, and I install a 32bit OS on it, will this affect computer performance in any way?

-In order to utilize the dual-core feature of the Pentium D 930, do I have to install any programs or stuff like that?
