wat graphics card would be best for the next good bunch of games like crysis and unreal tournament 2007(cant wait for ut2007!!!)
when will the new cards from nvidia/ati be released?
will 7900gtx's or x1900xt/xtx be enough?
will 7600gt's be enough for 1024x768 resolutions at max quality?

the ones out today will be enough to run those games on medium graphics with low framerates. So basically, the ones out right now are a waste of money. If a 7900 gtx runs outsside environments in Oblivion with only 36 fps on high settings, then just imagine crysis..my guess would be 10 fps on high settings with the cards out now. I feel bad for the people who wasted their money on these " NEXT GEN CARDS!" ..what a scam.

2 x1900xtx Ran Crysis pretty good, but it was on DX 9.0

I have to admit that I am not much of a gamer. However, I would build a fully new system just to play UT2k7.

I Love the net play for 2k4. And, 2k7 promises to be better.

I second the I can't wait!!

UT is the only game that I will stop to play whenever I get a chance!

same here,i have a 7800gt im gunna hold on and see how it handles ut2k7,if its unbearable i will upgrade to a dx10 card when they come out,but then again the dx10 may cost a bomb so i will wait to see their costs.seems to me hardware is just one long waiting game if you want a good price for performance

Wait for direct X10 cards to come out...

The game wont be released for a couple of years. By then most gamers will have Vista and Direct x 10 cards.

Wait...

Do I hear a call for a THG clan in UT2kX??

I don't join Clans, it's always a spur of the moment thing for me, always playin' pick-up.

But we did have a few THGC games when UT2K4 first came out, and when the demo came out, and they were pretty good.

I'm sure there's enough of us here to get a few good games goin' and I'm also sure there's some who'd make a clan and be quite active.

EDIT: I'm not against clans (just some clansmen), it's that personally my gaming schedule is always out of whack (haven't played Oblivion in almost a week, been editing and playing with/tweaking my PSP), so no way to dedicate to a group without ending up the n00b/tag-along in no time.

Understand completely,

You know that there are casual clans out there... And I know what you mean about some members of diff clans.

I got perma banned from the viper HOP server because on onslaught I ended up one on one with viper and I killed him....

A few seconds later I was kicked and not allowed back! Go figure?

I doubt Crysis won't need super duper horsepower. Perhaps not the people that hang out here, but in the greater gaming universe of millions of gamers, very few people have something like a x1900, and fewer yet have SLI or Crossfire. Crytek will be wanting to sell as many copies as they can, so I think I'm safe in assuming that anything over a X1600/6800 will get playable frame rates. Not at high rez or max settings but it will work enough to enjoy the game. Tons of people will be upgrading systems or at least GPU's next year anyway, and they know that too.

When Farcry came out the top of the line cards ie. radeon 9700-9800 could play it at what 30fps at 1024x768?
Then the next gen came along and blew those away with everything max at 1280x1024 being playable.

the current generation won't be enjoyable at max settings unless you have two x1900xt's in crossfire...
As LordBelial said look at what oblivion does to current cards my guess would be expect about the same fps if not worse in crysis.

Then the next generation of cards will come and slaughter the x1900's and 7900s performance as always happens with technology.

That's likely, but Oblivion is a little unnecessarily hoggish (no early Z-cull calculates whole scene even non-visible), but I would say that Crysis will be worse if if it is far more efficient.

Then the next generation of cards will come and slaughter the x1900's and 7900s performance as always happens with technology.

The thing to look for is the efficiencies, DX10 in addition to the Unified design has the potential to be wickedly efficient in the right hands. So we could see mid range easily beatin not only single GTX/XT, but even Xfire&SLi. Of course we won't know until they arrive, and the games ship/test. So until then I play Pinball on my PSP and Oblivion on the Laptop. 8)

i wonder if the game has a directx 9.0 mode?
if it does have it then those people with a X1900XTX or 7900GTX can play it fairly good.

7900gtx, x1900xt, or x1800xt 512mb, they will run good, 7600 wont run ut2007 at full, im prolly gonna be getting a x1800xt 512mb or an x1900xt, cuz the 7900 has glitches, it sometimes mayb have artifacts

GAH stop posting you noob. You start a thread asking what's the difference between the 7800gtx and the 7900gt then think you know the answer to this question...

If you want the correct answer to this question you will have to wait to see...

This wasn't always the case... we've just gotten spoiled in the last few generations (at least with GPUs).

What do you think they are running crysis on at the E3....they are running crysis on an x1900 xt. And the crytek developers have stated that it will run fine on mid range computers. By the time the game comes out the code will be more optimised. I have full faith in crytek, they will pull through if any dev will. About unreal 3 who knows, their code is terribly unoptimised all of the time, epic sucks so does their engine, cryengine 2 rips it to pieces.
