I'm so excited for Conroe!! Finally to have an Intel processor in my system that will stop bottlenecking my video cards (to a point)! Needless to say I will be upgrading on launch day. I was just so suprised that I was able to convince my wife.

Basically what I'm wondering is which Conroe will you be buying or will you hold on to your 939, or maybe wait for quad core?

Use the poll.

I am anxiously awaiting Dec for me to get the E6800 for $530 or even less!
The thought of owning more performance than a FX-62 for half the price, plus having more overclocking headroom than AMD ever had... puts a sly grin on my face...

I'm getting a E6600 with Air cooling and will upgrade to water if i need an extra oomph to make myself feel better when the price drops or faster speed grades come out.

Ha ha!!! I convinced my wife by telling her I am concerned about our current system running all the time...I can't get it to standby and it is a Dell Poweredge so it is a server (being used as a desktop PC) with one fan that is very loud...long story, though.

Anyway I had to tell my wife that I will start with barebones and upgrade over a couple of months, and that a new computer will be my birthday present this year.

not a fan boy but will stick with current set up as I have already built my computer for the year. will check things out next year and make a choice at that time. My gut tells me AMD will be behind the 8 ball but, I could be wrong. We'll see, in the mean time I will be getting a few laughs from some ( not all) of the dumbasses who post on this forum...look forward to reading your posts..

6700 baby...I didn't think the price was THAT much over the 2.4Ghz model (I believe, but am too lazy to look up Tom's article on it) Water cool this sucker, and you def. should be able to get it over 4 Ghz (if you didn't see, someone oc'ed one to 4Ghz just on air cooling). I'm counting the days till July 23rd

and DDR2 memory... which is the same as if you did go for AM2... minus the performance and low cost, but with more heat!

is it just you or is AMD somehow putting you up to this? You sound like a broken record. Whre was your criticality when Intel was melting plastic cases..... wait they still are.

What a dink!

I'll be keeping my 939 AMD 3700+ for now, though I must admit the temptation to go Conroe is there. I'll probably buy a computer in three years, when DDR4 is comming out, there are Octo-core cpus, PCI Express 100x, and 16 way SLI/Crossfire.
