Freeware terminal emulator for PPC?

Don't know of any free ones, but if you don't need to do this too much, you
can set up a modem profile that uses comm 1 and set it to just dial a dummy
number. There is a screen where you can check open terminal window before
and after connection. Make sure you disable the 'give up if not connected in
x secs' option.

I was able to do this but could not see how to do a file transfer,
except perhaps a small ASCII file that could be cut and pasted in the
modem window. Is there another way?

Sorry, that trick doesn't support file Xfers, just text. You could search
for terminal at Handango or PocketGear. There are some PPC programs out
there, none free that I know of. vxHPC is probably the best of the bunch,
which is why it is a little expensive.

Yes, I think you are correct. I might yet go that route. The company
was a little unclear about how many licenses you need if you want to
put vxHpc on more than one PDA, but will only use one at a time.

First, I will try Kermit for DOS under PocketDOS. I have PocketDOS
already and Kermit is freeware -- and quite flexible. I expect to do
file transfers only rarely and can put up with a command line
interface on those occasions.
