Is there a diffrence if you buy the CPU or Box. Have heard the OEM are like grade 2, and this way Intel and AMD sells it cheaper not because of there is no fan.

I also looking for CPU 2.6/2mb 805 Bus 533 the one that everyone is buying to overclock to 4.1. As I live overseas and there is a friend that is coming to me next week. He is in indiana and he told me that he found it at Frys at $160, said it's $129.99 and because of tax is higher. Would like to know is there a cheaper place than Frys in Indiana.

Thanks for thr help.

Depending when your friend is leaving next week, he might be able to order it online and have it overnighted. Check Intel 805 prices for some retailers. I checked ZipZoomFly and they have the retail boxed processor for $114.40 plus an additional $12.79 for FedEx Overnight to my zip code. It's probably a couple of bucks more for shipping to Indiana. 8)

There isn't any big difference between the retail and OEM is only that the OEM's don't carry a warranty, if there is any, and they don't come with accessories, such as fan's....Overclockers go with OEM, usually, because 1) They are OC'ing...What warranty? ;)  2) They don't need a fan because there is a good chance they will buy an after-market one.

On a side note, I've seen nothing but trouble with Frys...just a friendly word of caution. Be careful to research who you are buying from. Others may love Frys, but there are other better resources...through Tom's  and newegg.com, for example.

Yeah, Fry's is a crap shoot. Maybe you could buy it online and have it shipped to his location. I don't know if you'll face any issues with this in the buying process, but worth a try.

Retail = Manufacturer approved cooling fan/heatsink and 3 year warranty.

OEM = No cooling fan/heatsink and 90 day warranty.
