I am so confused.

It used to be that if I had something that was called the 500 model....and I were to buy say the 800 model...it would be obvious that the higher number is the better of the two.

Video cards now have GT, GTX, LE, PRO, etc....

Here's my question...

I currently have 1.5 gigs of RAM and an AMD Barton 3200.

My card is a evga 6600 GT.

I want to be able to run Battlefield 2 on the highest settings possible.

It must be AGP.

I don't want to spend more than 200 bucks (give or take 20 dollars)

What card do I buy?

I don't need a million reasons, just simply put tell me what to get. These charts on Tom's often confuse (yes I'm that dumb)

I have narrowed it down to 2 I believe but if you can think of one better let me know.

X1600 PRO 512

or 7600 GT

suggestions?

Remember: Must be AGP, must be around 200, must be able to run BF2 on some high settings.

Thanks for helping this idiot out.

1. There is no AGP version of the 7600 GT yet.

2. Get an X800 GTO or 6800 GS if you must buy new.

If you don't mind getting used get an X800 XL or 6800 GT off ebay. Should be under $150. Both are much better at stock clockspeeds than the X800 GTO or 6800 GS.

There is a 7800gs but I don't think that is in your budget range. And quite frankly you are not going to run BF2 at the highest settings with decent fps with any AGP card.

Therefore you are delusional if you think you can find an agp card for under $200 that will run BF2 on highest settings. The first answer was correct.

Neither of those cards will run bf2 at "high" settings they way he thinks he will be getting with those cards with a decent fps online

It is impossible. AGP won't do it even if you were able to get a 7000 series nvidia card or equivelent ATI. Like the guy said above. Save up for a new motherboard. I just bought the highest possible AGP card and believe me their isn't that much of an increase even when doubling the ram from the previous card.

it will run bf2 at the highest settings, agp is not extint. i dont even have agp or pci-e, so consider yourself a lucky man. and plus, unless u are gaming at 1600x1200, the x850 WILL play it at ultimate settings.

wait for conroe to come out

buy a mobo that supports conroe and pci-express, or else you'll be crying in a corner because you wont be able to upgrade your cpu

agp is dead.

dont spend money on agp.

you have to upgrade to pci express eventually.

you have to upgrade your prosessor eventually

do them both at the same time.

Good luck!

I have an AGP 6800 GT and run at 1600x1200 with everything maxed out online with no problems at all. You guys don't know what you're talking about. Anything over 40-50fps is just for bragging rights not game play.

Everything maxed out including fsaa/AF? I had a 6800U OC when I was bigtime into BF2 and it wasn't a 16x12 max eye candy card in that game. [H] Claims the 6800GT's best suited for 10x7 4x/8x.; I was playing 12x10. They didn't even set the 7800GS OC to 16x12. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=OTYxLCwsaGVudGh1c2lhc3Q=
