I just picked up a Zalman CNPS9500. The processor I'am Running is a Amd 64x2 3800+

With the stock Heat Sink my idles were 52 ish so the Zalman did kick it down 3-4 celsius but I just don't get it. I tried re-Thermal pasting it (I am using the thermal paste that came with the Zalman some thermal Grease) and now my Idles are 49 ish. Before I re-thermed it, they were around 46. Before I used way to much and this time I guess I used to little?

My Mobo is a Gigabyte k8Triton for the 939 socket. Any Ideas, Questions, Advice? Anything!

My Temps should be lower from what I've read.

Thanks

its most likely a bad mount, and tell us how you are measuring temps

Cpu Voltage is at:

VCoreA - 1.400
+3.3v 3.360
+12v 11.960
CPU VID 41.820

My Case is a RaidMax http://microcenter.com/byos/byos_single_product_results...

I just resetted the Zalman. I used AS5 on it. Right now it is idling around 43.
So It is a little bit lower this time, but not by as much I'd expect.

Currently I'am using Easy Tuner 5 for Temp monitoring for the CPU and RivaTuner for the GC. I'am looking for a Program to work with my
Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 and make a graph of the CPU Temps, I haven't found that one yet.

Thanks for telp, please keep it commin!

First off 10 degrees Celcius is something to be happy about. It is still being cooled by air so you should be happy! Plus I am sure the load are atleast 15 degrees cooler. I have to say that I personally had the same high problem with my Zalmann 9500 you can look back at all of the posts on that one. But 43 is really not that bad by anymeans. I wanted more cooling so I went to the Koolance water cooling where I idle at 39 and load is 43 I love it and it is on the low settings. If you are not happy you may have to look at different options.

I agree. Room temps should be also considered. The one down fall of air coolers, is if you have no cool air, its not going to run any cooler.

So if your room is around 78-80F or higher, chances are your not going to have idle temps as low as what you may want.

At this time my room temp is 81F. My idle temp is 44C on a 7700 Zalman. I know if my room temps drop to around 70F, my idle temp will drop to around 38C.
