Conroe Gaming Rig! help building

After reading and searching on with dual core to go with AMD or INTEL gonna go with the conroe E6600 even though AMD slahing prices in half :p with that said still havent decided on which parts to build around the conroe with , what parts should i go with ?


Motherboard : ? something stable overclockable
Video Card : ( something looking xbox 360 like if possible ? )
Memory : ?

In general the X1900XT is the best current card for games all around. If the sky is the limit with your budget, you could get two X1900XTs, or even better, two 7950GX2s for Quad SLI providing enough power for resolutions of 1920x1200 or even 2560x1600.

Yeah, the E6600 show lots of muscle not to mention highly overclocklable. Although I haven't keeping track of the prices on the Core 2 line up.

Hey JumpingJack, d'you got the latest pricing on the Conroe's?

two 7950 x2 do sound good on an SLI but i dont really plan on playin at such hight resolutions what kind of graphics would 1 give me 360 like ? i will be play games like

I think you'll find that unless you're using outrageous resolutions, a 7900GT will give you the graphics you need. Conroe supporting motherboards are limited still. You'll want a 975x chipset board with a very recent revision. Also all 965x motherboards will be Conroe compatable. More boards will become available as July 23 nears, and Nvidia is coming out with a 590 chipset for Conroe also, which likely will be good.

Oh ok so basically im going have to wait to see a proven conroe motherboard

what kind of graphix can you get out of a 7900 GT compared to lets say a ps2 or 360.

My understanding is that quad SLI is only available to system builders. Has that changed?
