ok well I was looking through a bunch of articles abouts this but none of them really ever gave a conclusive answer. Does anyone with experience with this have a conclusive answer about which is faster? does it depend on the application whether timings or memory speed is better?

The cas number says how many cycels the latency is, and the MHz how many cycels there is in a second, so u can calcuate it like this:

With cl 2 @ 667 MHz the cas latency is 3 x (60/667) s or ~0,269s
With cl 3 @ 800 MHz the cas latency is 4 x (60/800) s or 0,3s

So cl 2 @ 667 is faster at the cas latency at least, but there can be many other variables in real world use.

I think you just confused him more. Depending on the cpu, it can go either way. Is it an am2 or an intel system?

That didn't confuse me too much. It's not for any system I currently have or am planning to get because depending on the price drops I could end up getting either am2 or conroe
