Hello,

If I use 'shut down' from 'start', there is a 'red' icon at bottome of screen. Sometimes it will show me what progams are still open pr running sometimes it does not. I have completely shut down FireFox, Win 7 and any other apps that may be running, but the 'red' icon still shows. As I said, sometimes it will show which programs are still running and sometimes it just shutsdown. I have no problem with the speed of how long it takes to shutdown; however, I woud still like to know WHY it sometimes shows, upon shutdown, that red icon upon shutdown.

Any answers or suggestion as to why whis is happening would be for great help.

Thanks.

Some software run as services in the background, and as a result may not have stopped before the "shut down" command was given by Windows. As a result, Windows 7 will prompt the user to force the program to stop running. Note that if you leave that screen up for just few seconds longer, the still-running software will close, and then the computer will shut down. In short, this is new feature in Windows Vista and 7. This is also normal.
