The first time I saw one was last year at the airshow at Biggin Hill.

This afternoon one flew over my workplace. LOW!!!
No more than 1000ft AGL. That's low in Amsterdam for a plane that size!

I knew there was one in the country last week for some kind of show, but I
didn't think it would still be here.
It's not my favorite plane, but I love the sound of heavy props!!
You should have seen the look on the faces of my colleagues!

Them: "Where are you going in such a hurry? What's going on?"
Me: "Very big props. Big props. Big BIG props!"
Them: "What the hell is that?"
Me: "That....THAT is a Catalina. One of few."

talking about home saw a commercial aircraft abandon a landing at D height
yesterday ... guess they called it a 'mist approach' :-o Cleared within
five minutes but the aircraft didnt return
