ok cool so this would be alright:

it'll run games, and lemme do some modelling and watch movies. I have a desktop with an Geforce FX 5900 agp card and I like the performance that gives me.

If you're going to pay over $1000 for a laptop, let me make a couple suggestions

Core Duo
Turion

I personally think the Core Duo laptop is the better deal.

Whatever you do, don't get a laptop with a Pentium 4-M/HT. Stick w/ Pentium M, Centrino, Turion, and Core Duo.

Its only important that you have a Core Duo, nice RAM and a big screen; you dont need a graphics card for programming (obviously).
But dont buy some cheap no-name, you will regret it :)

It's Dual Core Dumba$$. Core Duo(don't be so funking bias) and you do need a Graphic card. or atleast take a VGA Card. Turion Is about as good as Single core Can Get. So having a Single core Turion is about the same thing as a mid level or a mid-high level Dual Core
