First, you need to grasp Intel's financial situation. That company is financially very very fragile right now.
Basically, at the end of Q1, Intel had $14.0 billion cash+short term investment, but also had $9.8 billion payments due, leaving only $4.2 billion net cash. But, Intel also had $2.6 billion of debt. Intel has 103K people to feed, they consume $3 billion per quarter. In 1Q06, Intel's free cash flow was only $0.3 billion.

For 2Q06, we heard enough bad news already. Intel stuffed the channel in Q1 and stuffed more in Q2 ( http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32136 ). Intel CPUs prices crashed 40% and volume fell 21%. If Intel posts an operating loss for 2Q06, don't be surprised.

For 3Q06, the situation is even worse. Intel will slash Netbust price further, yet it won't be able to supply enough Conroes. DELL has no way to go, but AMD (see http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32536 ). AMD is ramping production like crazy. AMD's unit output will increase by 50% in Q3. Intel will have lower prices and lower units for 3Q06. Operating loss is in the bag.

For 4Q06, Intel expects to ramp Conroe to 25% of the units. Unfortunately, by then, AMD's 65nm Rev G will be out. Intel will be still stuck with a huge pile of Netbust chips. Eventually, Intel will have to write off most of those and record massive losses.

Then comes 2007. K8L and Bulldozer will be out. Game over for Intel.

If you also consider stuff like impairment on goodwill, write off assets and other losses, Intel is simply in a hopeless situation.

-Opteron owned Xeon for 3 years performance-wise, and what did that get AMD? 13% marketshare. Oh WOW!

-Early benchmarks indicate Woodcrest taking back the performance lead.
-sharikou's PhD is for romantic poetry.
-AMD is growing but still incomparable to Intel in terms of sheer size, etc.
-sharikou isn't paid by AMD, even AMD is shaking their heads and saying "WTF is this guy smoking?"
-Intel is a lot better off financially than you make it out to be.
-sharikou is scared of the real knowledgeable people calling his BS so he makes a topic then runs back to his blog.

Shakira, everything you said is so true!
Don't listen to these inteloids, just ignore them and everything will be allright. I am more curious, I knew that AMD ahs the power to destroy Intel, but they are so kind and they let Intel live for a while. And those inteloids have no respect for that. Lets ignore them, Shakira, AMD will be the best no matter what inteloids are saying!

Why do you like amd soo much, personally I cannot stand that I cannot overclock my amd processor that much, and that all of my intels overclocked like monsters even my Pentium 1. INTEL: Cumulative 11 year net income 57100 million i.e. Profit 57.1 billion
(source: http://www.intel.com/intel/finance/annual.htm?iid=InvRe... )

What is funny to me is that no one at AMD seems to be concerned about money. How is it that a company that has only made 171 million in 11 years can somehow scrape together 6 billion dollars for 2 new fabs? Especially in light of them getting beat across the board by the core architecture.

Seems crazy to me. But Shakira is probably right, Intel is teh doomed. It is amazing how 2 down quarters (Still profitable mind you, but not as profitable...) can bring about the demise of a company with billions in the bank.

Can't you get banned for posting nothing but FUD? I mean really, her last 3 posts have all been locked and this is the worst one.

Intel's Conroe spanks AMD FX-62's botty - for real!!

In sellling things it isn't about who has the best product, its about who sells the most. With the Dell deal and a loyal fanbase for AMD; plus some Apple deals, and more system builder deals than normal AMD is gaining market share, even if Core 2 is better.

Example: How many netbust(inferior architecture) chips were sold compared to Athlon 64 (superior architecture). AMD is increasing production while Intel just laid of 16,000 people. Look at stocks, AMD's is 25.14USD and Intel's is 18.00USD, the stock market people have a little bit more experience for predicting sales then us.

How stupid. A dumb post gets turned into a heap of bandwidth upchuck by the likes of people such as actionman who's childish personality only feeds the fire. His attempts to get in a minimum of 40 posts into each thread by attacking people with stupid cutdowns only leads us to believe that he has no life and spends hours upon hours trying to rule these forums with his adolescent attempts at comedy by trying to make someone look so dumb that he feels it eclipses his own smallness and in some way makes him look smart. NOT!

Apparantly you dont remember 2002 (the last time intel had the better performing cpu) AMD gave the marketshare they had gained with athlon back to intel. And the performance delta between Northwood and AthlonXP was nowhere near what it is going to be when core 2 launches. AMD will have to sell their stuff very cheap just to maintain their market share let alone gain more.

Oh and your stock price example is pretty uninformed. I suggest you look at the charts of the two stocks and see which way they are trending. Pretty scary time to be holding AMD if you ask me.

Why Intel survive with inferior architecture? : Because AMD can't make enought proccesors to get more share.

Can AMD survive with Intel. No without fanboys or dirty cheap processors.

Let's have some fun shall we, first the data:

Here is a quick summary enumeration of the Core 2 Benching data to date, it has a mix of benchmarking that occurred under Intel supervision and benching that has occurred independently. I will likely redit this post, reogranize it from most comprehensive to least, then hand to Iterations to do with as he pleases.

Intel hasn't laid off 16000 people. That was a rumor started in a blog. Yes Intel's stock is lower than AMD, there is a lot more to stock value than predicted sales. If that was the case, AMD's stock should be worth 20% of what Intel's stock is worth. Use your head.

"The likes of people" which presumably also includes you as well as you just contributed (I use the loosest form of that description). And myself too as I just contributed too...

So with your oversized d***head youre gonna fall pretty hard, right? (If I may drop to your level)

Do you think you sound smart?

I like Action_man becouse he is pain in your ass. He makes you nervous, angry and mad, and I am really enjoying it. Than you post such crap that is so much fun to read. Anyway, like many others who are not the terms I use to insult people like you, I don't like your apperance. Probably if you were somewhere near me I would like to psycho-physical torture you.

are you an accountant? are you a corporate analyst/accountant?

If you answered yes --> I will trust your post and believe you and say "wow i never realized it."

However the fact that you summarize intel's devise in 10 sentences is not enough information to convince me. Corporate structuring is wayyy to complex to be so shortly summarized. I would need to see something that is like 10 pages to believe what you said!
June 26, 2006 1:30:28 PM

Meh

Thanks for reminding me why I haven't been to these forum"z" for weeks

This idiot should just fk off and die already. Some ppl might actually believe the crap he is spewing forth, in the same manner that some thought that Waco dude was Jesus. If Intel was gonna go bust, I think some pretty highly-paid analysts on Wall St would have figured that out already and their stock price would be zero.

Actionman, I'd just quit your quest to try and bang some sense into these morons. Just spend your time more wisely elsewhere. I don't think I've ever learnt anything by reading posts here (Jack aside - seems like the only non-14 year old round here).

I hope Intel does file for Chapter 11. Intel is a stupid company that only thinks of profit by building factories in foreign countries that use cheap labor, unlike AMD that is building another fab in Upstate NY. Intel only thinks about themselves not about the country they started in, their birth country, USA. They don't think about the American people they only think about their wallets and bank accounts. Besides Intel chips will never be as efficient as AMD, unless Intel starts stealing AMD's ideas. When leaving a computer on for weeks a pc with an AMD chip I never had to restart my pc, but with Intel it would have to restart it like 7 times, and Intel's power consumption is terrible (imagine how much power Intel's quad-core will use). Intel's sole purpose is nothing it's a useless piece of silicon. AMD is the best in every task especially gaming. Intel will never get their money back because they already failed. Look at it this way how many Intel commercials have you seen(1,000,000), and how many AMD commercials have you seen(0). AMD doesn't need publicity it speaks for itself performance-wise.

W00T!!!!!! All hail AMD!!!!!! AMD rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're a dreamer. The only reason AMD is thinking of building in NY is because of the 1billion in incentives from the government. Not to keep jobs in America.

Congratulations on just proving yourself an uninformed idiot!
I might suggest you do a bit of research on intels new architecture and fab locations before you post this nonsense again elsewhere.

Edit: I also recommend that you stay away from sharikou's blog. I would hate to see your already fragile mind further damaged by his gross misinformation.
June 26, 2006 1:56:02 PM

You think Benny? That dumbass just posted his sh!t and never came back, why? Because he doesn't have no fuking facts in his fuking brain. And if they haven't notice, AMD's stock dropped $15 dollars during the week of June 12th (If I can recall the exact time) and yet Intel's stay steady.
June 26, 2006 2:01:46 PM

You really need to stop this ignorant Extemist crap, sorry they didn't get you with those guys in Florida last week. You'll be next I hope.
June 26, 2006 2:04:48 PM

Actually it's all bullshit, neither company is going anywhere no matter what the stock is or isn't, it's about time everyone got that through their thick heads.
June 26, 2006 2:11:43 PM

Get your head out of AMD's butt and see the light. You're a joke!
June 26, 2006 2:16:32 PM

The way you try to build up AMD with FUD and such manufactured emotions... I am beginning to think you secretly admire and actually own Intel PC's... and know they are the bomb...
So this is your reverse psychology plow to actually support Intel?!?
WooT! NetBurst 4-EvAr!!! [/iDiOtZ]

Busygamer, you've Gamed yourself out of any braincells. Your A Dumba$$ AAMD intel dont give a shytt about Keeping job in the country. It's GlobilizaTION kid. What ever they can produce cheaper and sell with more profit they'll do it. If Microsoft could save 30cents in packaging costs by moving to Nigeria they'll do it. Because the mass production will cover the setup costs in 2-3 months
