Integrated Sound + 8 channels 6 ports

How can a mobo only have 6 ports if the onboard sound has 8 channels?

Each stereo minijack supports two channels, for instance

Port 1 - FRONT LEFT/RIGHT
Port 2 - MID LEFT/RIGHT
Port 3 - REAR LEFT/RIGH
Port 4 - Centre/Subwoofer
Port 5 - Microphone IN
Port 6 - Line IN

You will need to check out your manual/documentation to tell which is which
