Well I just finished school and I have been waiting months to build this computer so I want to build a good one. I am waiting for Intel Conroe to come out but for the other specs here it goes...

Processor:
Intel Conroe Duo 2 X6800

I was a bit skeptic of the price for this procsesor can someone clarify the price?

If it is too much then I might go with the
Intel Conroe Duo 2 E6600

Motherboard:
Something that will go with my processor. Can someone pick a good one out for me?

Case:
Thermaltake Tsunami

Ram:
OCZ Platinum PC3200 2GB DDR-400 184 Pin

Hard Drive:
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000rpm

I also have a 250GB Western Digital.

Sound Card:
Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Fatal1ty

$999 USD- its not worth it- get the other one and save money!

You might have a problem using that RAM, since Conroe is DDR2 only. Look at some good DDR2-800 or DDR2-1066.

Don't get a Raptor. The marginal speed gain is not worth the high price tag.
Good DVD drive is an NEC.. around $40. NIC is on the motherboard. Heatsink will come with CPU.

Good luck.[/quote]

In lots of 1000 it will cost you $999 USD. Expect retail price to be higher.

Don't know of any that are currently available.

No can do. Conroe will require DDR2 RAM. You selected DDR RAM. 2GB DDR2 800 sells for around $300 USD, 2GB DDR2 667 sells for about $200 USD.

Hard Drive:
Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000rpm

The Raptor is kinda hot and loud, but if you want it......

Do not get the NEC 3550A, it's crap. I'm looking for a replacement.

Nearly all motherboards have integrated network cards.

My preference is the Scythe Ninja, but I'm sure you'll have plenty of people recommending the Zalman 9500CU. The Ninja is cheaper, quieter (by 1dBA), and cools better (1 or 2 celcius better). But it is about 6.5 inches tall with the fan attached. Without the fan it is 5.9" tall.

The Scythe Ninja is also capable of cooling up to an Athlon X2 3800+ (not overclock) passively (without fan). A Conroe E6600 seems to have the same thermals as a X2 3800+, but I need to wait for more info to come out. I will definitely attempt to passively cool my Conroe with the Ninja. But I don't recommend that you do so unless you have experience with tweaking and also patience to start slow and underclocked. Then slowly bring it up to stock speed while checking temperatures.

Where's the NCIX store because Newegg and Zipzoomfly offer BETTER prices than NCIX does...just thought I'd let you know...

As for the Raptor, they're good drives and are pretty fast. If you got the cash, stick with it. It may run hot, but if you get the Tsunami case, you can stick it behind the 120mm fan to keep it cool.

Newegg has a lot of reviews on different products; the NEC drives have good reviews.

Better wait and see the mobos. The Asus P5B Deluxe looks nice. I hope the RD600 will be out soon. With conroe the memory is not super important, even DDR2-667 is a great performer it all comes down to how you want to overclock so you can run 1:1. The X6800 unlock multiplier will let you run just about any memory speed 1:1. I'm getting a E6700.

Asus also is comming out with the P5W DH Deluxe which has crossfire. I just noticed it updated on their website. It is a 975 chipset vs the 965 on the P5B
