I have been doing research on various video cards (talk about a challenge) and I am trying to figure out what is the difference between DirectX 9.0 and DirectX 9.0c.

Are they the same, backwards compatible, etc...

Any details would be great.

I think DX9c has some enchanments, but most cards out there will run it fine. What cards do you have in mind?

Don't I wish I knew what I had in mind...this is a challenge.

Basically I am not a game player (I will play on my PS2 for games), most things I run will be office apps with also watching some DVD and things associated with it.

But I am looking at ATI cards (that is the motherboard type I have), but trying to put this all together is a challenge.

Any thoughts on a decent low level card (max price $100) that will give me decent performance.

X1300 comes to mind as it has some new features, and will be good enough for office apps, and non-gaming tasks.

Wow go figure...that is the one I actually have given the most thought to. Just ran into that problem of do I go the next step up or will that be sufficent.
