I'm finally getting around to updating a pc I built a little more than two years ago (AMD XP rig), and I'm considering the following:

(this platform will be primarily for gaming)

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Orleans 2000MHz HT Socket AM2 Processor Model ADA3200CNBOX

Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX

Video Card: eVGA 256-P2-N554-AX Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16

Rationale for the AM2 platform is upgradeability over the long-haul (I won't be making any platform changes in the near-term), and that pricing is more or less in sync with its 939 counterparts. I won't be over-clocking. As for SLI, again, upgradeability over the long-haul. I'm only going with one video card now, but hope to add another later this year.

I'm set for hd's and other peripherals. I'm hoping to spend less than $500.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Gran

Pretty good but you might wanna get a 6800GS and wait for DX10 cards to come out because I heard that 6800GS is about as good as a 7600GT because it has 256-bit memory while still being cheaper and still being a pretty good card. And yeah, don't forget at least 1GB of DDR-2 RAM (2GB if you can afford it, or wait until Vista comes out and get 2GB.)
