I'm pretty new to building computers and everything dealing with ram. I'm planning on building a system with this motherboard and cpu.
Motherboard
ASUS M2N-E Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Windsor 2000MHz HT 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor

Basically, I'm wondering what ram should I get? I'm mainly going to be using this computer for gaming and maybe a little overclocking. Though, I don't want to spend a lot on the ram
The motherboard says it supports up to dual channel ddr2 PC2-6400 (800) ram. I am thinking of just getting 2x512mb ram, since the 2x1gig is a bit to expense rightn now. I am hoping to get the ram for under $150.
basically, what would you suggest? should I get the highest frequency that my motherboard supports? These are two different sets of ram I have been looking at, would you say one is better than the other? or suggest something else?
Patriot 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory

OCZ Dual Channel Gold XTC 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 512MB)

From some reading I have done, I think patriot would be better. Cause the ocz has 5-5-5-12 timing. whereas the patriot has 4-4-4-12 timing.
Or would it be better for me to go down to 667 and get 2x1gig?
like this, OCZ EL Dual Channel 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Gold Memory (2 x 1024MB)
