I was watching the danger den video about how to build a
water cool system. Anyway, he connected the pump to the
motherboard. Is this the normal way? Also, what is the
connection labeled at the motherboard. For example: fans

I know it may different with each motherboard. But, it will
give me a clue. Currently, I'm waiting for my new system
board to be released, since I'm interested in ATI's RD600.

you mean he's using the mobo psu plug right?

Just connect the red wire (positive) to +12v and black wire (ground) to ground.
there you go.

You can also use that other 4 pin plug if it has a 12v on it aswell.
Yellow is the +12v wire usually.

The FAN connector on the mobo should work too, i'd be a little scared of the current drain on it though with a pump.

It's the water cooling system part 1, the last 40 secs.

He's connecting the the power line from the pump to the motherboard.
Not using any of the motherboard PSU connectors.

The Video show connecting to a FAN Connection. One that does not have speed control. Since no fan are be pulled form the MB it should handle the load. But Should check you MB Specs.

It does look like he plugged it into the 3 pin fan power connector on the mb. Mine connects into a molex connector but if I had to do it over again I'd have it connect into an AC outlet directly. The higher end pumps can pull enough power that if your psu isn't up to it you can cause stability issues.

I know that the swiftec 12v pump I got is powered up by the Molex!

Will powering up the pump from the MB give the pump additional power to pump more water????
