I have a 7950 GX2 card and was wondering what the resolution would be if I hooked it up to an LCD HDTV. I was told by some people 2580x1600 on HDTV's.

All depends on the resolution of your tv. Although i think some tvs have the ability to scale down 1080p to 1366x768, so you might try that. I dont know if youd get any improvement from doing so though, if anything the image would likley look more blurry.

it depends on the TV. The max resolution that will actually be on the TV is the TV's native resolution, which you can look up online for most TVs. Just look at the TV's Data sheet. You can pump in a higher resolution, but they will either down convert it or make you have to scroll around on the screen.

2580x1600... wow I don't think they've invted HDTV for that resolution yet. 1080p is already pretty insane and if it's for an HDTV usually comes with a 4-5 grand price tag (sharp aquos). I have a samsung 720p(1366x768 native) 42" and besides the fact that I love this thing I think a higher res would be a lot better. So just bare in mind, that if you want to move from 720 to 1080, you're looking at an extra 2 grand. I don't think 1600p is out yet but uh, I think you're better off spending that much money on a new car instead.

As was mentioned before the specs differ, but realize not all TVs are 1366x768, some are true 1280x720, and the rarer is the highest HDTV standard 1920x1080.

But there are other resolutions, and depending on your HDTV maker you may have an 800x600 LCD panel that they say can display HDTV content (but of course it will be shrunken to fit losing data).

Anywhoo, most will be 1280x720 or 1366x768.
