I use cnn.com as my home page and, after installing windows 7 I am getting a sound that can only be described as a f*rt when the site comes up and when i refresh it, or it refreshes itself.
It occurs on no other site, and never did it in Vista.
Obviously it is not terrible, except my wife keeps looking over at me from her computer and wanting to know about GI problems I am having <grin>.
I've looked all over CNN.com, my toolbars, internet options, sounds fro control panel and can't seem to find the source in order to turn it off.
For some bizarre reason, you can't control the sounds IE makes from within IE - you have to go to the Windows 7 control panel:
Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds
Click the "Sounds" tab
Scroll down through the "Program Events" list until you get to the "Windows Explorer" section (yes, "Windows Explorer", not "Internet Explorer" ). I suspect the sound you're hearing is the "Information Bar" sound.
Thanks - tried both of those things already- tried EVERY sound in the sounds portion of the control panel- none make that noise.
Changed the sound scheme/theme, including no sounds and still got the cnn sound.
I also notice I can't bring up multiple tabbed wites within IE8 now, which I guess is yet another problem?
That's odd. If I go into control panel and turn off the "Information Bar" sound, then CNN.com doesn't give me any sounds at all when I browse to it with IE8...
