Hi im new to all this overclocking side of cpus would someone be able to check my setup and see if its right?

If someone doesn't know anymore than you apparently do then I don't suggest you even consider overclocking until you've researched the subject thoroughly on your own.

Resources are out there for you to learn from.

You can Google O/Cing basically anything and everything, but if you're going to O/C and risk frying up possibly everything you've invested in, be responsible enough to do your own research and take your learning from those that have done the O/Cing and posted their results for all to see, not from someone here that may know just a little more than you do, but you don't know that, and take their advice to heart.

O/Cing is a major subject that if you're going to do you need to educate yourself in how to do it, not ask for some quick tips, because you may get the wrong answers.

I'm not trying to offend you here just give you some good advice!

I have done research and have read up on it but I just want to know if my setup could be better.

Currently using unlocked barton 2600+ mobile with Abit NF7-S, 1GB OCZ PC3500 RAM if that helps

Looks great... best you're going to get out of it. If the temperatures not too high it wouldn't hurt to make use of that chipset and set your bus to 200 and multiplier to 11 or 11.5...

Don't sacrifice memory timings though.

What would you suggest for mem timings?

Those are your memory timings: your memory is rated for 217 (DDR433), but you're not running it. Try these settings and tell me what works. Please do not change your memory timings from 2-4-4-8!:

200 (BUS) * 10.5 (MULT) = 2100MHz
200 (BUS) * 11 (MULT) = 2200MHz
190 (BUS) * 11 (MULT) = 2090MHz

I'd stop right there because you can't really raise the multiplier without it crashing, and the nForce2 chipset doesn't like anything about a bus of 200.

Would lowering my cpu voltage slow down my system? Currently using defaults but as I got a mobile cpu dont they run on lower voltages anyway?

[AUTO] will give all the CPU all the voltage it needs, not its default. Lowering the voltage does not affect your clockspeed in any way, just your stability if the CPU doesn't have enough voltage. You should always give the CPU the least amount of voltage possible, as more voltage means more heat.

I set the voltage to 1.5 and now my system runs at 46'c idle tried 1.4 but got blue screen of death :twisted:

I got a high powered delta fan somewhere which I can whack on my heatsink which should bring the temp down even more but it makes soo much damn noise.

Is there anything else I can do to improve performance etc.. overclocking memory?

Not really much more than you can do... memory is running all-out because it's the same as the external bus clock. If you increased the memory over the external clock, you would see absolutely no improvment whatsoever.

The only thing you could do is either:

- Raise the multiplier by another 0.5x. The processor will start to generate more heat and require more voltage at this level, though. It's hard to get 2.4-2.5GHz out of a barton core.

- Raise the bus by 1MHz at a time. This will probably fail when you test it, because nForce2/Ultra chipsets are sensitive to anything above 200. Raising the bus does wonders for gaming if that's what you do. Doesn't hurt to try though, you can always reset the CMOS if something goes wrong.

I'd stop there though, 46c idle is as high as I would push it.
